Before writing took over my life (in a good way), I used to cook like a woman possessed. Every day or once every two days (I like to prepare meals for two or three evenings), I would scurry around the kitchen with my female cat perched on a chair, watching my every move and whip up stews, soups, salads, anything to share with my loved ones.
Those who have read Daring Dreamer will be familiar with Janna’s desire to concoct Curry Chicken Salad…
“This evening, I’m experimenting with a curry chicken salad. I would like to incorporate the salad into the deli’s prepared food selection. For the most part, creating delicious, unique recipes falls to our head chef, Philip. Exceptionally inventive, I’m amazed he’s never had formal culinary training.”
“Shelby and I loved the curry chicken salad. I’ll speak with Philip tomorrow about including the salad in his repertoire. Of course, I’ll bring a sample for him to taste in hopes of garnering his approval.”
My goal was to duplicate my favorite curry chicken salad recipe from a small, high-end, grocery store chain in my city, but I did wish to reduce the sugar content. I think I accomplished both.
Want to give it a try? Here’s the recipe…

Do you have a favored recipe of your own? You never know, you may read about it in my next book. I would love to hear from you: dk@deborahkingbooks.com
